Having an in-house lab, we can get quick diagnostic results to come up with a treatment plan in less than 24 hours. In-house, we are capable of running basic bloodwork as well as other basic health care tests:

  • CBC (Complete Blood Count) gives you a quantitative look at the red and white blood cells.
  • Chemistry, looks at basic internal organ functions, such as the liver and kidneys.
  • Fibrinogen, is an indication of inflammation in the body.
  • Serum Amyloid A, is a bio marker present with inflammation caused by infection that rises and recedes quickly within the horse and can be valuable for determining how recent the infection is and if treatment is effective.
  • Blood gas, used mainly in critical cases to aid diagnosis and treatment.
  • Foal SNAP test, measures IgG levels. Low levels in foals require immediate care and this test can be done instantly at the farm or in the clinic.
  • Succeed Fecal Test, indicates the presence of blood/inflammation in the GI tract and can distinguish between foregut and hindgut lesions.
  • Fecal egg count, detects possible parasite infestations within the horse’s GI. With a fecal result, we can guide you on the correct deworming protocol for optimum parasite control.
We also partner with universities and other labs for tests that we cannot provide in-house, such as ACTH/Insulin, microbiology, Coggins, and EPM testing. Blood and other samples can be drawn and sent to the appropriate lab we feel provides the best results.
